About Me
I never started off thinking I would be in the position to talk about mental health. I started out in my career as a intern in a senior center as a case manager and looking at city policies. I continued on with my education and got my Masters in Social Work degree, and continued to work with seniors in a skilled nursing facility; and moved on to geriatric therapy in a locked psych facility. But that is when it really stuck out to me. Aging and mental health are normal parts of the human experience, but professionals were not equipped to deal with the challenges that come with a person that needs extra care. More importantly families were also unsure of where to start or what to do when facing a situation that is strange to them.
As mental health becomes more accepted in society it becomes even more important that people are getting good information that is relevant to their situation. It can be hard to sort out all the stuff that is out there about anything that has to do with mental health. Let a professional that has been working with aging and mental health for over 10 years help guide you make the right choices.
